Frankfurter Kranz/ Wreath of Frankfurt

This is a Recipe from my Mom's cook book. We had the tradition to have this cake around on Christmas as well on Birthdays. The best part was that you only cut thin slices and that way it would stick around for some time. It only tastes better with time!
Since this is a European cake I will give it to you in grams but on the side there is a widget where you can "translate" everything. :-) Bare with me its worth it.

200 gr of  Margarine
300 gr of Sugar
8 eggs
Salt just a hint
100 g of Cornstarch
300g Wheat flower
4 teaspoons of Baking Powder
4 Tablespoons of Milk

Whipp up the Margarine and Sugar together than put in the eggs and the dry ingredients. Lastly give in the Milk. Put the bast into a sprayed/buttered baking pan.

Baking time is 15 - 50 minutes at 350 - 380 F depending on your oven. After baking let it cool of for a night.

Butter creme:

2 pound of European style butter ( Target has it) and 2 packages of cooking Vanilla pudding.
Prepare the Vanilla pudding as it says on package just used a bit less Milk so that the pudding is extra stiff. Let the pudding cool down and also get out the butter so that in the end butter and Pudding have almost the same temperature. ( very important. If they do not have the same temp the creme will curdle and not be smooth)
Once the same temp is reached start putting the a spoon of pudding and butter each in a bowl and whip them up on low. Continue the process till you have used up all of the butter and the pudding.

Than cut  the cooled of cake into three layers. Put a glass of jam of your choosing on the first layer, put the next layer on and put some of the butter creme on it and now set the last layer on. Continue to spread the butter creme all around it and only save enough to use for decoration with a baster. If you can find "Krokant" let me know since this also belongs on it which us though hard to find around here. It taste great without it as well. :-)
Since this is a butter creme cake keep it cool till the day/moment you serve it to your guests!

And this is how it looks before you get going on the surrounding with the buttercreme and yes mu kids help and lick and..... :-)

  1. I'm gonna make this... Looks sooooo good! I'm not sure if it's possible to make it vegan, though. ;) Sorry Jay!
